LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDER, CAROLYN KAN.
“When you learn, teach. When you get, give.” - Maya Angelou
Carrie K. was born with one unwavering purpose – to be a catalyst to positive outcomes for our community, our friends, and ourselves through not just our stories but our actions. Over the years, Carrie K. has worked with numerous organizations to give back to our community, from helping the local design community through Keepers, to supporting women around the world through UN Women. Last year, we decided to create a long term initiative that would positively impact our local community. Our conversation with the Carrie K. Family went something like this…
Q: What impacts the community?
A: Families impact the community.
Q: Who impacts families most?
A: Mums impact families the most.
So, we made a promise tosupport single mums, who would most benefit from our support. We didn’t want to wait till “one day” when we are big and successful. We wanted to contribute in our own small way now. We pledged to donate a small percentage profit for every pearl necklace sold to AWARE for their programme that helps single mums.
Carrie K. launched Pearls of Society initiative bringing together a positive and purposeful community of like-minded individuals who believe that positive action can turn grit into gems, just like pearls.
Last October, we collaborated with Daughters of Tomorrow, an organization that helps single mums get back on their feet and back to work, by training them with necessary skills and building their confidence. We hosted our inaugural Pearls of Society programme that gave our mums access to valuable insight and tools to build self-confidence at work and solo parenting.
On the 26th Feb this year, we had the pleasure of showing our appreciation to a community of individuals who supported our cause at a luncheon at NOKA. It was delightful to be able to connect like-minded, creative individuals who share the same goal; making a difference in our community. Before the scrumptious lunch, we introduced our new Everyday Promises pearl accessories taught guests how to style their pearls in different looks.
Pearls of Society Luncheon:
I would like to thank everyone’s support for our passion project. By owning a Carrie K. pearl necklace, you have helped fuel our initiative. Our team will be planning another Pearls of Society programme second-half of this year. It will be a day-long programme with insightful activities for single mothers. If you would like to be part of our Pearls of Society day-long programme volunteering events, feel free to contact us. We always welcome another helping hand who wants to make a difference in the community.
Some of you have also invited friends to discover our work, so thank you for sharing your love for our work. By sharing the love, you have helped us raise awareness. We can also host a Pearl Bar workshop for you and your friends to shop and support the cause. A small percentage profit for every pearl necklace sold will be donated to AWARE for their programme that helps single mums.

1. Measure your fingers at the end of day as your finger size will be different at different times of the day.
Fingers tend swell up during the course of the day as your blood pressure rises.
2. Measure your finger size 3 to 4 times to get a more accurate measure.
3. Your fingers might also swell if you are pregnant or if you are on medication. Take this into account when measuring your fingers.
Here are some tips on how you can measure your finger:
First, cut a cardboard strip measuring 0.5cm wide and 15cm long.
Then, wrap the cardboard around the finger to be sized.
Once it’s done, slide the cardboard up to the knuckle, as the ring must be sized large enough to able to slip off and on, over the knuckle.
Next, use a pen to mark on the cardboard where the long end overlaps.
Measure the mark from the end of the length of paper or string with a ruler.
Locate your ring size by locating your measurement against our size chart.
Should the measurement falls in between two sizes, we recommend that you choose the larger size.
