A reflection on the work of artist Jackson Pollock, A Beautiful Mess aims to challenge preconceived notions of beauty.
Singapore, 28 February 2013 - Singapore jewellery brand Carrie K. Artisan Jewellery will unveil its new collection at Tranoi F/W 2013, Paris Fashion Week. A Beautiful Mess is a reflection on the work of artist Jackson Pollock and is made up of a vibrant array of leather necklaces, cuffs and earrings. Through shapes usually disregarded as “a mess”, Carrie K. hopes to provoke a rethink of what is beautiful and precious.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the beauty of imperfection,” says designer Carolyn Kan, “The idea of wearing a mess instead of cleaning it up made me smile.”
Inspired by this notion, the collection aims to celebrate disorder and irregularity in a world that strives for order and perfection.
A Beautiful Mess puts the spotlight on the shapes of unsightly splatters and careless spills. The leather Splat pieces are double-sided and resemble accidental paint splatters in vibrant splashes of cyan, lavender and pink. Splat comprises a brooch and earrings, and reversible necklaces and lariat.
The leather Spill pieces are designed to “drip” down the neck and wrist when worn. They come in brightly coloured patent leather on one side and metallics on the other. Spill is available as bibs and cuffs that come in Black and Silver, Plum and Gold, Blue and Gold and Burnt Orange and Gold.
To complete the collection, Splat and Spilled rings will be available in the following finishes:
• Spilled Open Ring plated in Silver or 14K Yellow Gold or Rose Gold
• Spilled Ring in Enamel finishing of Purple, Blue, Green, Black and Red
• Splat Ring plated in Silver or 14K Yellow Gold or Rose Gold
The leather pieces from this collection are handcrafted in Istanbul. Most of the pieces are reversible as they are specially treated to create different coloured, double-sided pieces.
