A reflection on the work of artist Jackson Pollock, the new collection aims to challenge preconceived notions of beauty.
Singapore, 26 March 2013 – Carrie K. Artisan Jewellery’s new collection ‘A Beautiful Mess’ will make its Singapore debut at fashion tradeshow Blueprint on 16 May 2013.
‘A Beautiful Mess’ comprising brooches, earrings, reversible cuffs, necklaces and lariats, is a reflection on the work of artist Jackson Pollock. Carrie K. hopes the collection will provoke a rethink of what is beautiful and precious through shapes usually disregarded as “a mess”.
The collection will be available at the Carrie K. Atelier and selected stockists from 1 June 2013 and will be priced from S$138 to S$418.
Recently showcased at Tranoi 2013 during Paris Fashion Week, ‘A Beautiful Mess’ puts the spotlight on the shapes of unsightly splatters and careless spills. The leather Splat pieces are double-sided and resemble accidental paint splatters in vibrant splashes of cyan, lavender and pink. Splat comprises a brooch and earrings, and reversible necklaces and lariat.
The leather Spill pieces are designed to “drip” down the neck and wrist when worn. They come in brightly coloured patent leather on one side and metallics on the other. Spill is available as bibs and cuffs that come in Black and Silver, Plum and Gold, Blue and Gold and Burnt Orange and Gold.
To complete the collection, Splat and Spilled rings will be available in the following finishes:
• Spilled Open Ring plated in Silver, plated in 14K Yellow Gold or plated in 14K Rose Gold
• Spilled Ring in Enamel finishing in Purple, Blue, Green, Black or Red
• Splat Ring plated in Silver or 14K Yellow Gold or Rose Gold
The leather pieces from this collection are handcrafted in Istanbul. Most of the pieces are reversible as they are specially treated to create different coloured, double-sided pieces.
“Carrie K. is an unusual marriage of artisan-crafted jewellery and playfully, provocative design for a very particular customer base. Blueprint attracts fitting and quality buyers from international concept stores who seek quality craftsmanship and unique designs” says designer Carolyn Kan, who is participating in Blueprint for the third time.
