Carrie K. debuts new Razor, Nail and Needle series for the Reborn Collection; and leverages Blueprint for international exposure and growth.
Singapore, 8 May 2014 – The Singapore debut of Carrie K. Artisan Jewellery’s new series in the Reborn collection will be at Blueprint from 15-18 May. The collection sees humble everyday objects reinterpreted into covetable jewellery; with the Razor, Nail and Needle series. Ahead of Carrie K.’s Fine Jewellery launch in Japan, the Safety Pin paved rings will also be showcased at Blueprint. The Fine Jewellery collection unites signature Carrie K. playfully provocative designs with precious stones. The Singapore-based designer continues to tap onto Blueprint for the fourth year to grow internationally and secure overseas stockists.
Razor blades have an irreverent renaissance in Carrie K.’s Reborn Collection extension as cuffs, rings and ear cuffs finished in gold and silver. Whilst most razor blades have been forgone in favour of safety blades, Carrie K. found beauty in seemingly mundane objects and transformed them into desirable jewellery pieces. The Reborn Collection challenges traditional notions of beauty and preciousness with playful designs, including a new Nail ear cuff meaning women without pierced ears can now join in on the fun. The Needle series pays homage to the humble and hard working needle, an often necessary yet undervalued tool. The Needle series includes midi rings, regular sized rings, earrings and bracelets. All the new jewellery pieces are modern and worn to make a strong impact of punk edge or elegant cheekiness.
The Carrie K. Charmed bracelets are available in new Spring/Summer colours and leathers at Blueprint Emporium, the two-day off shoot of the tradeshow that allows consumers to shop and gather with the showcased designers.
Carrie K. will launch a Fine Jewellery collection in Japan in June for their first overseas corner at the Shibuya Seibu department store. Leading the fine jewellery showcase at Blueprint are the Safety Pin Bling rings paved in precious gems. Inspired by Japanese customers who wanted Carrie K. designs in precious stones and materials, the Safety Pin ring design from the Reborn Collection was crafted in fine precious form. Carrie K.’s ability to extract customer insights for overseas markets and marry it with their signature sense of humour has been key to growth internationally.
Blueprint’s networking and sales opportunities with domestic and overseas buyers and media have enabled Carrie K. to grow from solely Singapore stockists in 2011 to export and stockists in Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Korea in 2014. Furthermore, the contacts gained at Blueprint led to even more stockists in Japan, Italy and the USA. International demand for services such as customisation and one-off commissions will be met when the Carrie K. webshop opens in June. International lovers of playfully provocative artisan-crafted jewellery will be able to enjoy customisation of fine jewellery and bespoke projects that encapsulate individuals’ story in a co-design process of great jewellery possibilities.
“Blueprint has been a catalyst to Carrie K.’s international growth and we are delighted with our expansion since our first trade showcase in 2011. Carrie K. is now stocked in seven countries and in February 2014, we launched our first overseas Carrie K. corner at Shibuya Seibu in Tokyo. Being in markets such as Japan has spurred the development of new products and services such as Carrie K. fine jewellery featuring our signature playful designs in precious gems and metals, and our bespoke service via our new webshop launching in June." said Carolyn Kan, founder and designer at Carrie K.

1. Measure your fingers at the end of day as your finger size will be different at different times of the day.
Fingers tend swell up during the course of the day as your blood pressure rises.
2. Measure your finger size 3 to 4 times to get a more accurate measure.
3. Your fingers might also swell if you are pregnant or if you are on medication. Take this into account when measuring your fingers.
Here are some tips on how you can measure your finger:
First, cut a cardboard strip measuring 0.5cm wide and 15cm long.
Then, wrap the cardboard around the finger to be sized.
Once it’s done, slide the cardboard up to the knuckle, as the ring must be sized large enough to able to slip off and on, over the knuckle.
Next, use a pen to mark on the cardboard where the long end overlaps.
Measure the mark from the end of the length of paper or string with a ruler.
Locate your ring size by locating your measurement against our size chart.
Should the measurement falls in between two sizes, we recommend that you choose the larger size.
